About Grizzly Gems

Grizzly Gems is a small scaled company, based in Missoula, MT. It has been in business since 2002 and has been expanding ever since. Following is a message from the owner, Stacy McCarthy.

In 2002, I was working full time at a local bead importing company. I spent many Saturdays during football season losing my voice in the north end zone of Washington Grizzly Stadium. From this combination of my beloved job, my favorite pastime (Grizzly football) and my new found hobby of designing and making jewelry, Grizzly Gems was born. I began having Sterling silver bears and bear paws made, found the perfect burgundy colored garnets and began creating and selling to local Griz fans with much success. In the summer of 2005 my sister, Angela moved back to Missoula from Italy to obtain her masters degree in business. Angie had spent seven years in Europe teaching English and running a couple of successful businesses of her own in Rome. With her, she brought her Belgian born husband, Kevin Dubois. Kevin is a recently graduated linguist who is fluent in 5 languages and also an expert in computer technology. Kevin created and maintains this website. Both Angie and Kevin have become a tremendous asset to Grizzly Gems. Together, we have discovered that the appeal of the grizzly bear goes far beyond football. We have sold our jewelry world-wide and have learned that the bear claw is a spiritual symbol for some cultures both here in the states and abroad. I owe much thanks to my husband, for his entrepreneurial inspiration, guidance and support both emotional and financial. I hope you enjoy our jewelry and continue browsing our website as it continually grows.
